iPod shuffle gallery

The world’s smallest digital music player and just $79, the 1GB iPod shuffle lets you wear up to 240 songs(1) on your sleeve. Or your lapel. Or your belt. Clip on iPod shuffle and wear it as a badge of musical devotion.

Guy clipping iPod shuffle to his sleeve

One size fits all

You know what they say about good things and small packages. But when something 1.62 inches long and about half an ounce holds up to 240 songs, “good” and “small” don’t quite cut it. Especially when you can listen to your music for up to 12 continuous hours.(2) In fact, iPod shuffle just may be the biggest thing in small.

Ready to wear

Clip it to your coin pocket. Clip it to your bag. No matter where you clip your skip-free iPod shuffle, you’ll have instant access to music. And iPod shuffle’s anodized aluminum enclosure goes with absolutely everything. Put it on, turn it up, and turn some heads.

Look at.

Update: See in hand video.

New designed iPod Video Grows Bigger

Along with the new iPod Nanos and Shuffle, Apple has discontinued one of the iPod Video units, the 60gb model. Do not dispair, as it was replaced by an 80gb model. This would make sense, since the new iTunes 7.0 will allow users to buy and download feature films from the Walt Disney company.

While I don't expect it to replace the local video stores, it is nice to have the option to get a movie or two for that long plane ride on your next business trip. Who knows what else Apple has up their sleeve, but this is a major change in how copyrighted content is handled, and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Miglia TVBook Pro: Digital TV on your MacBook Pro

TvbookproMiglia, known for their USB TV sticks for the Mac, have released an exclusive MacBook Pro TV solution that utilises its new ExpressCard/34 card. It also provides antenna amplification via USB, which should make it more mobile where a TV signal could be weaker.

Your chosen aerial (active, passive or rooftop) simply plugs in as you would into your TV or set top box, and then you can watch Freeview (or whatever other free-to-air DVB-T digital programmes are available where you're travelling), and do the usual timeshifting and recording functions provided by the EyeTV2 software. It'll handle all MPEG formats, commonly MPEG-2 as sent by broadcasters.

It's 120x34x18mm and weighs 150g, so it shouldn't get in the way of working. Tuners working on previous Macs like the PowerBook have taken quite a hit on the processor, but the Macbook Pro should have ample processing power to provide a hPublishigh-quality, jitter-free picture.

I've always been impressed with these systems and this sounds like a great solution for Apple's new laptops.

Available from October, priced £99.

Design of you brain. Mini and You

Taking the owners site and moving it a bit closer to community by allowing their owners to communicate with the manufacturer and each other. It's easy with brand like Mini, but this site does it very well.

Minilounge21
The experience started by receiving a package in the mail which included your own decoder and special glasses, directing you to the site. I still haven't gathered all the clues to even know what it is about but it got my attention. The site also includes a sophisticated experience including the usual service information, dealer information, connection to financial services. But it goes further by offering almost a MySpace for your car including feedback from other owners about their vehicles, an owners forum, a place to upload your pictures and talk about experiences with your mini, and finally a very unique program where you can sign up for an ID, place it on your car and then use it to communicate with other mini owners through the site.

Anyone in the last 10 years that’s visited a web page is most likely familiar with the medium commonly known as Flash. The program has revolutionized the way people get content and for many a designer alike - shaped the way they design. NuVinci continuously variable planetary (CVP) technology set for pedal-electric hybrids

One of the many inventions with which the extraordinary Leonardo da Vinci is credited is the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), a technology that has only just come into common usage 500 years after his foresightedness was committed to parchment. NuVinci is a new highly adaptable and scalable variation on the CVT theme that looks set to make its mark – developed by Fallbrook Technologies, continuously variable planetary (CVP) NuVinci technology promises a practical and economical CVT for both human-powered and motor-powered vehicles and machines. The NuVinci CVP is applicable to any product that uses a transmission, including bicycles, light electric vehicles, agricultural equipment, automobiles and utility class wind turbines and an announcement overnight heralds the first use of the new technology by well-known electric-powered vehicle manufacturer Currie Technologies in hybrid electric bicycles and electric scooters which will combine the NuVinci CVP with the Currie Electro-Drive drive system. The first product will be seen before the end of the year and already looks set to give the pedal-electric hybrid bicycle remarkable new capabilities.
